"The Spirit of Hachikō"
Looking at the old Japanese family photos taken in 1920s and 30s, I am intrigued by the clash between the western tailored pieces and the loose traditional Japanese garments, which, together, form the foundation of my design developments.
The series of mixed-media illustrations presented in the form of family portraits represents not only my final designs but also the bond that exists in a family, between humans, and also between a dog and its owner. The outcome is a tribute to the original story of Hachikō with my own modern interpretation.
